Site of the first train robbery in Texas, the city of Allen has since taken major leaps towards developing a prosperous community dedicated to maintaining its small town sensibility. Nearly doubling in size since the year 2000, the population of Allen has shifted from a modest 43,686 to more than 84,246 residents. Best of all, with more than 700 acres of parks, 40 miles of nature hiking trails and a variety of recreational facilities, Allen is an ideal location for family fun. Not surprisingly, the Allen Independent School District has most recently earned an Exemplary Rating for 2010 from the Texas Education Agency.
With such a highly educated and skilled workforce to promote a pro-business climate, Allen has become an ideal location for numerous corporate headquarters located within the spacious Millennium Technology Park. Other attractions include convenient access to Lake Lavon, culture centers such as the Allen Civic Ballet, and the popular Allen Event Center, home of the Allen Americans hockey team. Only 24 miles north of Dallas, Allen residents enjoy the professional opportunity and entertainment of a major metroplex nearby without losing local color and hospitality.
