Only 15 minutes from Downtown Dallas, Lancaster lies nestled in the crossing of I-20, I-35 and I-45 and ideally situated to become home of the region’s newest logistics center, Dallas Logistics Hub. The 6,600 acre project will make good use of the interstate highways, rail systems and general aviation airport, and stands poised to become a prime employment center. Yet, despite the new development in Lancaster, the city also pays homage to its rich historical heritage that dates back to 1852, when it began as a trading post. Much of the city is still unsettled, and its rolling hills, many creeks and trees look just as they did when the first settlers came here. The historic town square retains its 19th century charm. The city is also dedicated to education, and is home to the University of North Texas at Dallas. Under development and within walking distance of the campus is a planned mixed use village, which will offer many retail shops, a research park, a resort hotel as well as plans for the creation of high-rise residential homes. Quality of life is important here, with more than 793 acres of park land, a hike and bike trail, a nature preserve center, museums, an 18-hole municipal golf course and many recreational facilities.
