Murphy is a quaint, fast-growing community with a history that hails from the early 20th century. Approximately 20 miles from downtown Dallas and only 30 miles away from DFW International Airport, make Murphy an excellent location with access to big city amenities. Most recently, 470 acres on the northeast side of the city have been approved for the development of residential living. The subdivisions’ love of nature is expressed through the additional construction of a linear park complete with hike-and-bike trails near beautiful Maxwell Creek. This park will be joining the existing 11 municipal parks the town of Murphy already offers its outdoor loving residents.
The major new feature to be noted in Murphy’s Future Land Use Plan is a central business district at the northeast and northwest corners of the intersection of FM 544 and Murphy Road. This district is expected to encompass a professionally landscaped plaza lined with promising offices and stores. Murphy’s reputation has grown as a proactive, pro-business community with the city adopting several incentive programs to assist business and industry wishing to relocate to Murphy. With access to Plano’s new Methodist Healthcare System facility, a school district with a Recognized rating from the Texas Education Agency, and a growth rate of 300% spanning over the past seven years, Murphy is a model location for young professionals, families and empty nesters.
